Selling Basics

Selling a gift card to Plastic Jungle is easy. We'll guide you through these simple steps:

  1. Click the link Sell a Gift Card at the top of any page on the site.
  2. Enter details about your gift card - the retailer, gift card number, etc.
  3. We'll tell you how much we'll pay you for the gift card. Choose from these payment options:
    • Check
    • Amazon.com gift card via email
    • Deposit into PayPal account
  4. Sign In to Plastic Jungle - if you are new, it is easy to create an account.
  5. Confirm Sale.
  6. Verify your identity [if applicable]. Depending on the gift card you are selling, we may ask you to verify your identity by entering a PIN code that we give you via phone. This ensures us that we are paying you for the card, and not someone else!
  7. Mail us your gift card [if applicable]. Depending on the gift card you are selling, you may need to mail us the physical gift card. If so, you can print our pre-paid shipping label, so shipping is free.
  8. When we receive your card, we will verify the actual card value, and make payment to you based on the verified balance upon receipt.

Accepted Gift Cards

  • We currently accept gift cards from more than 400 different retailers at Plastic Jungle, and we add new retailers all the time.
  • Depending on the retailer, we accept plastic cards, eCODEs, and merchandise credit.
  • We require a minimum of $25 remaining balance on gift cards.
  • You can sell a gift card to Plastic Jungle that has been partially used; it does not need to be brand new or a full dollar value (i.e. we take gift cards with a value of $41.26 as well as $45.00).
  • You do not need a sales receipt to sell your gift card.
  • We do not accept the following cards: cards with expiration dates, rewards cards (i.e. cards registered to specific user), damaged or unsellable cards (unreadable card # or PIN), unapproved retailers, or paper certificates. These cards will be returned if requested by the seller with a shipping and handling fee of $5.00 per card.

Payment Options

We make you the best offer we can for your gift card, based on a variety of factors including brand popularity, seasonality, and denomination. We don't pay you 100% of the card's value because we turn around and sell that card to others at a discount. That's what makes this marketplace a win-win for everyone!

Payment Timing

The timing of payment in exchange for selling a gift card depends on the payment method you select and the type of gift card you are selling:

Payment Status

You can track the status of your payment in Order Status.

PayPal Payment

To receive payment through PayPal, you must have a confirmed email address with PayPal. PayPal will not process the payment if you do not have a confirmed email address.

If your email address has not already been confirmed, please Sign In to your PayPal account and click on the "Confirm email address" link under the Notifications section of the PayPal My Account Overview page. Please follow the instructions on that page.

We will continue to try to complete the payment process for 4 days from the day you initially complete your transaction. If you confirm your email address within that timeframe you should receive your payment on our next attempt.

Shipping Label

We provide a free postage-paid shipping label so that you can mail us your gift card at no cost to you. Click here to print a postage-paid shipping label. After you sign in to Plastic Jungle, you will see a list of gift cards you have sold us. You can click on the green Print button on the right to print a new shipping label for the gift card(s) you have committed to sell us. The shipping label is valid for 9 days from the order date.

If you're mailing high value gift cards (or lots of them), we suggest you purchase insurance and tracking service at your local post office to ensure your gift cards arrive safely. Plastic Jungle is not responsible for a gift card until we receive it.

Identity Verification

Depending on the type of gift card you are selling and the payment option you select, we may require you to verify your identity before completing the sale. This means we ask you to enter a secret PIN code to ensure that you are selling the card (and getting payment) and not someone else. Once you are verified in our system, you will not need to be verified again unless your Plastic Jungle account information changes.

If you must verify your identity, you will be notified when you sell your gift card(s). To verify your identity, we will call the phone number listed on your Plastic Jungle account and give you a PIN number. You can enter the PIN number directly on the sell confirmation page or you can look up your order in Order Status, click the Verify Phone Number button next to your order, and then enter the PIN. If this verification is required, the sale of your gift card will be processed only after you have verified your identity. If you do not verify your identity within 48 hours, the order will be cancelled.

Volume Sellers

Plastic Jungle's Volume Seller program is designed to make it easier and faster for our repeat sellers to redeem their gift cards at Plastic Jungle. We do not require a specific volume to participate, though most of our Volume Sellers sell about 20 cards or $3k/month in gift card value. To become a Volume Seller, simply complete our volume seller agreement, and send it back to us as a scanned attachment in an email to  This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. Here are some Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) from volume sellers.

  1. Is there a limit to how much or how many cards I can sell at a time?
    No, you can sell us as many cards as you would like at one time. Some individual shipments from sellers have had over $25,000 in gift cards in a single shipment. We strongly encourage you to ship the cards to us via a carrier that provides package tracking and delivery confirmation.
  2. If I sell over a certain amount will I get a better offer?
    Plastic Jungle's Volume Seller program is not a volume discount program.
  3. How do I get paid?
    Volume Sellers enjoy faster, easier payments through ACH (Automated Clearing House) payments. With ACH payments, the deposit is made automatically into your checking account, which saves you a trip to the bank and eliminates any risk of the check getting lost in the mail.
  4. How do I get set up to accept ACH payments?
    Complete our Volume Seller Agreement with your bank information, and send it back to us as a scanned attachment via email to  This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.  or fax to 408-608-2009. Once we receive your signed Volume Seller Agreement, we will set you up to receive automatic payments from Plastic Jungle. Once your gift cards are received and the amounts on the gift cards are verified, we will initiate the ACH transfer instead of issuing a paper check. You will receive the ACH payment 3-5 business days after we receive and verify your gift cards.
  5. What happens if my gift cards are lost during shipment?
    Plastic Jungle accepts full responsibility for your cards only after they have been received in our facility. Because gift cards can get lost during shipment, you should send your gift cards with a carrier that provides package tracking and delivery confirmation, and you should share the tracking # with Plastic Jungle after you have shipped your gift cards.
  6. What happens when Plastic Jungle makes price changes?
    Changes in the exchange rate for gift cards are made approximately once per month. Price changes are typically based on changes in supply and demand for the retailer's gift cards.

    Price changes are effective the day they are posted. Our most current prices can be found here. The price for your gift card is set when you place the order on the Plastic Jungle web site. If price changes are made during shipment, they will not apply to any gift card shipments that are in process of being mailed.

  7. How can I request that Plastic Jungle add new brands to the accepted gift card list?
